Class is in session.

Teaching has been my greatest passion to date. Developing curriculum, mentoring, leading lectures, and being inspired by students happens daily. I can teach synchronously (zoom lectures), asynchronously (fully online), and in a physical classroom environment.

By the Numbers.

8 years of teaching
1000+ hours of lecturing
500+ hours of grading
600+ Lessons completed
300+ demonstrations given
150+ assignments created
100+ quizzes created

Why my classes are different.

I combine over 15 years of graphic design experience with my knowledge in Art History to bring students an unparalleled educational experience that will inspire them to become powerful designers. I teach creativity and innovation in my classes. As a result, students have portfolio-ready work, get hired after my classes, and generate incomes in the design industry.

I’m certified.

I have an Online Teaching Certification from Fullerton College and completed a course in Humanized Online Education through the California Community College Virtual Campus. I am now comfortable with designing and teaching inclusive online classes that welcome all students, value diversity as an asset, and leverage a human presence to cultivate identity-safe online teaching environments.

Teaching Philosophy

As an educator in art and design, I approach teaching as a responsive and student-centered practice that adapts to both the material and the needs of a diverse student population. Rather than relying on a single pedagogical model, I design courses that are flexible and multimodal, integrating lecture, discussion, hands-on projects, and real-world applications. This approach ensures that students with different learning styles, backgrounds, and levels of preparation can access and engage meaningfully with course content.

In my courses in digital art and graphic design, I position creative practice as a form of communication that connects visual culture, identity, and audience. By framing design as a holistic, interdisciplinary process that encompasses aesthetics, psychology, and social context, students can see themselves in the work and understand how their perspectives contribute to broader cultural conversations. This is particularly important in community college settings, where students bring a wide range of lived experiences that enrich the classroom.

I am committed to equity-minded teaching and culturally responsive pedagogy, and I intentionally design curriculum and classroom environments that support historically underserved students, including first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented populations. I cultivate identity-affirming spaces where students feel respected, heard, and supported in their academic and creative development. This includes incorporating diverse artists, designers, and cultural perspectives into course content, as well as creating assignments that allow students to explore their own identities and communities through their work.

I extend this commitment to equity beyond the classroom by emphasizing access to contemporary art and visual culture, encouraging students to engage with exhibition practices and public-facing work in ways that reflect diverse communities and perspectives.

To strengthen my teaching, I completed an accredited course in Humanized Online Education through the California Community College Virtual Campus. This training enhanced my ability to create inclusive, accessible learning environments across modalities. I design courses that incorporate multiple forms of content delivery, including live lectures, recorded demonstrations, readings, and interactive assignments, to support diverse learning needs and ensure accessibility in alignment with ADA and DEI guidelines.

Beyond the classroom, I recognize that student success is shaped by broader structural and personal challenges. I actively connect students with campus resources, including counseling, food security programs, and mental health services, and collaborate with support staff to ensure students have access to the resources they need. I also emphasize real-world application and career readiness through project-based learning, portfolio development, and individualized mentorship. Through consistent feedback and attention to issues such as representation and belonging, I support students in building confidence and navigating academic and professional pathways.

Ultimately, my goal is to create learning environments where all students feel a sense of belonging, can succeed academically, and see themselves as active contributors to the field of art and design. I remain committed to ongoing reflection, professional development, and collaboration to better serve the diverse communities of California community colleges.
